X Factor dominates Saturday night ratings with 8.4m viewers

The X Factor dominated Saturday primetime last night (September 13), averaging more than 8 million viewers, according to overnight figures.

ITV's singing contest was watched by 8.43m (38.9%) from 8pm, with a further 441k (2.2%) tuning in on +1. Afterwards, The Xtra Factor managed 667k (3.4%) from 9.20pm on ITV2.

Earlier on ITV, The Chase took 4.01m (21.8%) from 7pm, while Through the Keyhole entertained 3.85m (19.8%) after The X Factor.

On BBC One, the Tumble finale aired to 2.72m (17.4%).

Doctor Who episode 'Listen' was caught by 4.81m (23.5%) from 7.30pm, before The National Lottery In It to Win It appealed to 2.89m (13.4%). The BBC Proms 2014 earned 3.43m (18%) from 9.10pm.

BBC Two's own coverage of the Proms attracted 1.22m (5.8%) from 7.30pm. The Invictus Games followed with 865k (4.3%) in the 9pm hour.

On Channel 4, a repeat of Peter Kay: Live & Back on Nights! was viewed by 1.15m (5.7%) from 9pm.

Channel 5's Most Shocking Reality TV Moments took 531k (3.5%) from 9.20pm.

On the multichannels, ITV3's Midsomer Murders had 703k (3.7%) viewers from 9pm.

It's a complete travesty that one the greatest Dr Who episodes of all-time also recorded one its smallest audiences :cry:
