The X Factor drops over a million for first Sunday show

The X Factor dropped over a million viewers for its second show on Sunday (August 31), overnight data reveals.

The ITV competition's first Sunday edition of the year dipped from Saturday's 9.03m to 7.55m on average from 8pm, with an audience share of 32.2%. A further 643,000 (2.9%) tuned in on +1.

This is down from last year's first Sunday show ratings of 9.21m. On ITV2, The Xtra Factor entertained 1.02m (4.6%) at 9pm (149k/0.9% on +1).

On BBC One, Nature's Miracle Orphans brought in 3.86m (21.0%) at 7pm, followed by Countryfile with 5.13m (21.8%) at 8pm. The Village continued with 3.78m (17.2%) at 9pm, and Match of the Day 2 scored 2.65m (21.5%) at 10.35pm.

BBC Two's Equator with Simon Reeve interested 1.21m (6.6%) at 7pm, while Dragons' Den appealed to 1.54m (6.5%) at 8pm. Two Amigos: A Gaucho Adventure gathered 1.30m (5.9%) at 9pm, and Him & Her's final series BBC Two premiere amused 511k (2.8%) at 10pm.

On Channel 4, Time Team attracted 832k (3.5%) at 8pm, followed by Ben Stiller comedy Tower Heist with 1.63m (8.5%) at 9pm (294k/2.3%).

Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother entertained 1.74m (7.9%) at 9pm (218k/1.3%), followed by Kevin Bacon's Death Sentence with 695k (5.5%) at 10pm,

On E4, Made in Chelsea NYC bounced back from last week, gaining back nearly 300k viewers. An average of 614k (2.8%) tuned in at 10pm (297k/1.8%).
