Commonwealth Games 2014 opening ceremony scores 7.6m on BBC1

The 2014 Commonwealth Games opened with high ratings for BBC One on Wednesday (July 23), overnight data reveals.

The opening ceremony from Glasgow scored 7.59 million viewers on average (41.1%) at 8pm. It peaked at 9.31m (42.7%) at around 9.30pm.

On BBC Two, Operation Cloud Lab attracted 623,000 (3.4%) at 8pm, followed The Fifteen Billion Pound Railway with 1.50m (7.0%) at 9pm and Jack Whitehall's Backchat with 520k (2.6%) at 10pm.

ITV's All-Star Mr & Mrs entertained 2.65m (14.4%) at 8pm (167k/0.8% on +1), while a repeat of Trevor McDonald's Inside Death Row fascinated 1.56m (7.3%) at 9pm (156k/0.8%).

On Channel 4, This Old Thing appealed to 620k (3.4%) at 8pm (134k/0.6%). One Born Every Minute gathered 1.10m (5.2%) at 9pm (140k/0.7%) and The Mimic amused 321k (1.6%) at 10pm.

Channel 5's Emergency Bikers interested 626k (3.4%) at 8pm, followed by Caught on Camera with 639k (3.0%) at 9pm. Big Brother continued with 1.10m (5.8%) at 10pm (126k/1.0%).

On ITV2, TOWIE attracted 544k (2.8%) at 10pm (140k/1.1%).
