Clarissa Dickson Wright has died at the age of 66.
Her agent confirmed that the cook and co-host of BBC Two culinary show Two Fat Ladies passed away on Saturday (March 15) at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
"Loved dearly by her friends and many fans all over the world, Clarissa was utterly non-PC and fought for what she believed in, always, with no thought to her own personal cost," read a statement from her agency. "Her fun and laughter, extraordinary learning and intelligence, will be missed always, by so many of us.
"In recent years, she often said, 'I've had a fantastic life and I've done everything I could have wanted to do and more'.
"During her time in hospital, she was endlessly touched and impressed by the care of the doctors, nurses and support staff, aware of the pressure under which they worked and the fact that sometimes their work was not as valued as it should have been."
Dickson Wright initially trained as a barrister and, at 21, became the youngest woman to be called to the Bar.
She embraced her passion for cooking while recovering from alcohol dependency, working at St James's Club in London and at the Notting Hill store Books for Cooks.
Dickson Wright joined up with the late Jennifer Paterson for the pilot episode of Two Fat Ladies in 1994, and the duo worked together between 1996 and 1999, travelling around the UK in a motorbike and sidecar.
After Paterson's death in August 1999, she decided not to continue the show without her co-presenter, but worked with the BBC on a regular basis.
