Peter Capaldi barely spoke two lines at the end of Doctor Who so anyone who tuned-in specifically to see him must have been bitterly disappointed?

Having been forced to watch TV (something I rarely do) with Mrs Rebbonk, I can only say that I thought the whole lot was rubbish. I couldn't believe the garbage that passes for entertainment, especially the soaps.

The only possible exception was a BBC2 production about writer M.R,James. Sadly it told little new.

I eventually watched Mark Gatiss' adaptation of The Tractate Middoth, it was pretty decent.

The BBC usually saves its big-budget dramas for the New Year, for example: Sherlock.
