'Strictly Come Dancing' ratings hit series high with 11.7m

Strictly Come Dancing ratings hit a series high last night (November 23) with a peak audience of 11.7 million.

The BBC One dancing competition attracted an average of 10.6m viewers and a 43.7% audience share when it aired on BBC One at 6.30pm.

Over on ITV, The X Factor has less success with 7.3m (27.21%) at 8pm, dropping 860,000 viewers since last week's show. A further 357k (1.47%) watched the singing show on +1.

Back on BBC One, the channel's successful night continued at 7.50pm, with 10.2m (37.4%) tuning in to the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special 'The Day of The Doctor'. Long-running medical drama Casualty brought in 4.16m (16.7%) at 9pm.

The celebrations continued over on BBC Three after the main episode, with Doctor Who Live: The Afterparty at 9.05pm.

1.36m (5.48%) joined presenters Zoe Ball and Rick Edwards for the show, which featured interviews with showrunner Steven Moffat and Tom Baker.

Over on BBC Two, Dad's Army attracted 1.43m (5.25%) at 8pm, while Horizon special 'Comet of the Century' brought in 1.45m (5.96%) at 9.15pm.

I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! pulled in good ratings for ITV with 8.7m (36.81%) tuning in at 9.30pm and an added 496k (3%) watching on +1.

3.1m (19.8%) tuned in to The Jonathan Ross Show at 10.30pm, which included special guests such as Michelle Keegan, Simon Pegg and Gary Barlow.

Channel 4 had a quiet Saturday night, with new series Walking Through History bringing in 980k (3.56%) for its first episode on Stonehenge at 8pm. Drama Killing Kennedy interested 820k (3.49%) at 9pm.

Over on Channel 5, a showing of Mrs Miracle pulled in 1.02m (3.85%) at 7.20pm, followed by documentary Battle Scarred at 9.10pm which was seen by 251k (1.01%).

The Xtra Factor attracted 203k (0.86%) to ITV2 at 9.30pm, while I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here Now! increased the audience to 647k (3.98%) at 10.30pm.

A Foyle's War repeat performed well for ITV3, bringing in 936k (3.56%) at 8pm.
