Last Tango in Halifax returned for a new series with just under 6 million on Tuesday, according to overnight data.
The BBC One romantic drama attracted 5.97m (24.3%) at 9pm. This is down from last year's finale, which achieved 6.29m. However, it was not going up against live international football.
ITV's coverage of England's loss to Germany scored 6.20m (25.7%) at 7.30pm, topping the night overall.
On BBC Two, Celebrity Antiques Road Trip interested 2.29m (10.3%) at 7pm, followed by MasterChef: The Professionals with 2.80m (11.3%) at 8pm. Strange Days: Cold War Britain educated 863,000 (3.5%) at 9pm, while Hebburn entertained 1.00m (5.3%) at 10pm.
Channel 4's Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners dipped slightly to 1.62m (6.5%) at 8pm (321k/1.3% on +1). The Sound of Musicals attracted 722k (2.9%) at 9pm (128k/0.8%), while Masters of Sex continued with 605k (3.8%) at 10pm (142k/1.7%),
On Channel 5, The Mentalist thrilled 986k (4.0%) at 9pm (144/0.9%), followed by Castle with 647k (3.8%) at 10pm.
BBC Three's Snow, Sex & Suspicious Parents intrigued 582k (2.4%) at 9pm. Family Guy tickled 668k (6.5%) at 11pm.
On ITV2, I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here Now! entertained 1.09m (6.5%) at 10pm.
Overall, BBC One came out on top with an audience share of 22.6%, followed by ITV with 19.7%. BBC Two finished third with 7.7%, ahead of Channel 4 with 4.0%.
