'Strictly Come Dancing' rises to beat 'X Factor' on Sunday

Strictly Come Dancing once again came out on top in the ratings battle on Sunday, according to overnight data.

The BBC One competition rose by nearly 150,000 viewers from last Sunday's results show to 9.56 million (37.8%) at 7pm.

On ITV, The X Factor gained over 200k from last week's results show to 8.84m (33.5%) at 8pm, with an added 257k (1.0%) on +1.

Downton Abbey lost around 200k, falling to 8.68m (35.0%) at 9pm (548k/3.4% on +1). Earlier, Surprise, Surprise entertained 3.86m (15.7%) at 7pm (218k/0.8%).

Later on BBC One, The Paradise dropped 600k to 4.57m (17.3%) at 8pm. By Any Means dipped by 200k to 3.02m (12.0%) at 9pm.

BBC Two's Dive WWII interested 1.18m (4.8%) at 7pm, while Great Continental Railway Journey brought in 2.40m (9.1%) at 8pm.

On Channel 4, The Bigfoot Files appealed to 1.28m (4.9%) at 8pm (321k/1.3%), followed by the latest Homeland with 1.54m (6.2%) at 9pm (175k/1.0%).

Channel 5's broadcast of Ghostbusters spooked 1.03m (4.1%) at 7pm, while Scream 4 netted 669k (3.3%) at 9pm.

On BBC Three, Family Guy tickled 1.10m (5.4%) at 10pm. Sky1's The Moaning of Life with Karl Pilkington continued with 637k (2.6%) at 9pm.

ITV2's Xtra Factor entertained 525k (2.1%) at 9pm, followed by TOWIE with 747k (4.2%) at 10pm (156k/1.6%).
