Whitechapel held steady in the ratings on Wednesday night (September 18), according to overnight data.
The ITV drama was seen by 3.02 million (14.0%) at 9pm, with a further 261,000 (1.8%) tuning in on +1. Earlier, Stephen Mulhern's Big Star's Little Star rose to 3.52m (16.5%) at 8pm (208k/1.0% on +1).
On BBC One, Watchdog returned for a new series with 4.00m (18.7%) at 8pm. Marianne Faithfull's Who Do You Think You Are? brought in 3.80m (17.5%) at 9pm. New comedy Father Figure amused 1.37m (11.5%) at 10.35pm.
BBC Two's The House that 100k Built gathered 2.41m (11.3%) at 8pm, while Science Britannica interested 1.86m (8.6%) at 9pm.
On Channel 4, Three Day Nanny appealed to 988k (4.6%) at 8pm (254k/1.2%). Grand Designs was seen by 2.23m (10.3%) at 9pm (378k/2.5%).
Channel 5's Celebrity Super Spa entertained 785k (3.6%) at 9pm, followed by Wentworth with 844k (5.6%) at 10pm.
