The Great British Bake Off dipped slightly from last week's launch, according to overnight figures.
The BBC Two show was seen by 5.32 million (23.5%) at 8pm yesterday (August 27), down by just under 300,000 from last week.
Earlier, Only Connect quizzed 1.67m (8.8%) at 7.30pm, while Midwives: Old Mums, Young Mums attracted 1.86m (8.0%) at 9pm.
On BBC One, New Tricks easily topped the night overall with 7.5m (32.0%), jumping by almost a million from last week.
ITV's coverage of Arsenal's victory over Fenerbahçe in the Champions League scored 2.65m (11.9%) from 7.30pm.
On Channel 4, Double Your House for Free brought in 1.04m (4.6%) at 8pm (267k/1.1% on +1), followed by Top Boy with 821k (3.5%) at 9pm (190k/1.1%).
Channel 5's latest CSI: NY thrilled 1.17m (5.0%) at 9pm (315k/1.9%). Celebrity Big Brother continued with 1.79m (10.6%) at 10pm (157k/1.7%), while Bit on the Side entertained 845k (8.9%) at 11pm.
BBC Three's Don't Tell the Bride topped the multichannels with 843k (3.6%) at 9pm.
