Ratings: 'The Apprentice' rises to new peak on Wednesday

The Apprentice climbed to a new peak this series on Wednesday evening, according to overnight figures.

Lord Alan Sugar's latest firing ahead of next week's interviews gained over 400,000 viewers to 6.30 million (27.2%) at 9pm on BBC One. The previous highest rating this year was 6.21m.

Earlier, new Nicky Campbell series Your Money, Their Tricks interested 4.57m (22.5%) at 8pm. A Question of Sport quizzed 2.39m (17.3%) at 10.35pm.

On BBC Two, Today at Wimbledon's coverage of Andy Murray's five-set comeback scored 1.75m (8.6%) at 8pm. Horizon educated 1.53m (6.6%) at 9pm, while The Apprentice: You're Fired! brought in 2.19m (11.1%) at 10pm.

ITV's new special Me & My Guide Dogs was seen by 4.24m (20.7%) at 8pm (189k/0.8% on +1). Love & Marriage held steady with 2.93m (12.6%) at 9pm (182k/1.0%).

On Channel 4, 24 Hours in A&E continued with 1.95m (8.4%) at 9pm (317k/1.8%), while the final episode of Dates attracted 602k (3.1%) at 10pm (180k/1.7%).

The penultimate episode of NCIS this season thrilled 1.47m (6.3%) at 9.15pm on Channel 5 (161k/0.9%). Big Brother entertained 1.23m (7.0%) at 10pm.

ITV2's The Only Way is Essex gathered 710k (3.9%) at 10pm (200k/2.0%).

The most-watched show on the multichannels was a repeat of Lewis on ITV3 at 9pm with 916k (4.5%).
