ITV has gone down in a number of regions across the UK in the past hour (June 4).

Many viewers have been unable to access the channel on satellite TV, Sky and Freesat services.

ITV Central said in a statement: "Some viewers may be experiencing technical difficulties in the ITV Central region.

"The technical problems affect satellite and cable SD services. However, HD services on these platforms are operational. You can also view ITV and ITV+1 on Freeview and Freesat.

"Engineers are working to rectify the problem as soon as possible."

Many users on Twitter and on the Digital Spy forums have confirmed that their ITV region has gone down.

Forum user DMN wrote: "Looks like ITV have had a breakdown - not sure if it just Central region or all over but a lot of people on Twitter reporting it."

The channel has since begun working again in some affected areas of the UK, although not all, with many Twitter users complaining that they are unable to watch Emmerdale.
