'Murder on the Home Front' opens to 4.5m on Thursday evening

Murder on the Home Front opened to decent ratings on ITV on Thursday evening (May 9), overnight data revealed.

The wartime crime drama premiered with 4.53 million viewers (20.2%) at 9pm, with a further 255,000 (1.5%) on +1.

Paul O'Grady's For the Love of Dogs returned with the biggest ratings of the night outside of soaps with 4.81m (22.0%) at 8.30pm (187k/0.8% on +1).

On BBC One, Britain's Biggest Hoarders opened with 3.38m (15.1%) at 8pm. Question Time was seen by 2.63m (22.2%) at 10.45pm.

BBC Two's Nature's Weirdest Events attracted 1.24m (6.1%) at 7pm, followed by the documentary Bradford: City of Dreams with 1.32m (6.0%) at 8pm.

David Tennant's The Politician's Husband ended with 1.95m (8.7%) at 9pm.

On Channel 4, Secret Eaters grabbed 1.29m (5.9%) at 8pm (160k/0.7%), while Repo Man continued with 1.59m (7.1%) at 9pm (262k/1.6%). Sex on Wheels was seen by 1.05m (6.5%) at 10pm (235k/2.6%).

Channel 5's Star Trek documentary True Story attracted 831k (3.8%) at 8pm.

BBC Three's repeat of The Apprentice brought in 256k (1.3%) at 8pm. Joined for Life was seen by 318k (1.4%) at 9pm, while Russell Howard's Good News tickled 744k (4.1%) at 10pm.

On E4, The Big Bang Theory amused 1.29m (5.8%) at 8pm (354k/1.6%), followed by How I Met Your Mother, which was seen by 773k (3.5%) at 8.30pm (192k/0.6%).

ITV's Peter Andre: My Life secured 752k (3.4%) at 9pm (119k/0.7%), while Celebrity Juice entertained 1.07m (6.2%) at 10pm (156k/1.6%).
