Richard Hammond's Top Gear special on 50 Years of Bond Cars was the engine behind a fine evening for BBC Two last night (October 29).

Featuring contributions from Daniel Craig and Roger Moore, the programme even dented the finale of New Tricks, which drew a series low of 6.79m (27.2%) for BBC One.
999: What's Your Emergency continued to perform fairly steadily for Channel 4 with 1.99m (8%) for its latest edition and 435k (2.5%) on +1, while Channel 5's Classic Car Rescue rallied to 1.29m (5.1%) in its usual 8pm slot.
Elsewhere on BBC Two, University Challenge (2.99m/12%) and Nigellisima (2.13m/8.4%) held solid in the 8pm hour, while Never Mind the Buzzcocks amused 1.39m (6.9%) at 10pm.
Overall, BBC One led primetime with 23% versus 20.7% for ITV1 (+1: 0.8%). BBC Two cruised into third place with 9.3%, well clear of Channel 4's 5% (+1: 0.9%) and Channel 5's 3.5% (+1: 0.3%).
E4 and ITV2's teen market battle intensified further as Made in Chelsea (342k/2%) fell behind Switch (379k/2.1%). However, E4 +1's 114k (1.3%) for Chelsea was bigger than ITV2 +1's Switch rating of just 38k (0.4%).
Only Connect still couldn't surpass the magic million mark, but topped the multichannels with a hefty 983k (3.9%) for BBC Four at 8.30pm, beating Arrow's 714k (2.8%) for Sky1.
