The Great British Bake Off is still delivering remarkable ratings for BBC Two, logging nearly 4.2m last night.
Tuesday's third edition of the new series served up an average of 4.17m (18.6%), with the audience growing healthily between 8pm and 9pm, peaking near to 5m in the last five minutes.
Bake Off's continued prowess had a positive effect on The Midwives, which climbed 470k week-on-week to 2.57m (11.4%) in the 9pm hour.
Meanwhile, Jimmy McGovern's Accused shed more viewers, but comfortably won its post-watershed slot with 4.08m (18%). BBC One's fellow dramas Holby City and EastEnders performed solidly earlier on.
A Born To Kill? documentary on Myra Hindley boosted Channel 5, drawing 1.48m (6.6%) at 8pm (+1: 133k/0.6%). Person of Interest followed with 1.21m (5.3%) at 9pm (+1: 132k/0.8%).
Celebrity Big Brother capped a strong night for Channel 5 with 1.95m (11.2%) at 10pm, beating The Rob Brydon Show's 1.21m (6.3%) for BBC Two.
Channel 4's 90-minute religious documentary - Islam: The Untold Story - interested 1.24m (5.8%) from 9pm (+1: 149k/1%), while a repeat of ITV1's Lewis had 2.39m (10.6%) between 8pm and 10pm (+1: 260k/1.3%).
Overall, BBC One scored another convincing primetime win with 21.7% against ITV1's 12.5% (+1: 0.9%). BBC Two claimed third place with 10.8%, ahead of Channel's decent 6% (+1: 0.4%), and Channel 4's 4.6% (+1: 0.8%).
Bad Education amused 927k (4.7%) for BBC Three at 10.30pm and a further 374k (9.2%) caught up at 12.30am, topping the Tuesday multichannel table for the first time despite actually losing a tiny share of viewers.
