Although shown on Tuesday night I didn't get around to watching this programme until Thursday on BBC iPlayer

If the purpose of the show was to generate sympathy for the people portrayed in the programme, it failed miserably for me. Unlike Channel 4's "The Hoarder Next Door" most of the subjects came off as being arrogant, self centred, attention seekers. One in particular was more concerned with the fate of a piece of junk rotting in his back garden than he was with hurting his partner's feelings. Another seemed to think it was everyone else's (unpaid) job to clear up after him. In fact, I don't think 'hoarder' is a fair description of these particular people, they had gone way beyond that point. I can understand why people hoard stuff which 'might' become useful at some point in the future but I fail to see any future use for rotting food or rain sodden newspapers? I also thought the 'helpers' portrayed in the show were actually making things worse by pandering to the subject's imaginary sense of self-importance. Personally I wouldn't have bothered with them.
