Hidden feature on most Freeview receivers... [updated]

Postby dutchman » Fri Apr 13, 2012 12:03 pm

Few people outside the TV industry are aware of this but most Freeview digital receivers of the type which use coloured buttons on the remote control contain a hidden feature.

Go to Channel 250 which is normally used for interactive services and wait for the whole page including Freeview logo to load. This can take some time so please be patient. Press the yellow button, it will appear as if nothing has happened.

Change to a regular channel, the quickest and easiest way is to press up or down on your channel selector.

Now go to Channel 250 again. Again, wait for the whole page (including Freeview logo) to load. After they have loaded press the green button. A 'status page' will appear showing technical details of your receiver, when it was last updated, etc. Now press the green button again and voila, it's a blast from the past!

Very neat!
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
