Ratings: Being Human returns to BBC with 1.1 million viewers
The series premiere of Being Human attracted more than 1.1 million viewers across BBC Three and BBC HD last night, according to overnight data.
The supernatural drama averaged 1.12m (4.3%) in its 9pm timeslot combined - 889k (3.4%) on BBC Three and 227k (0.9%) on BBC HD. It was slightly down on last year's opener, which was seen by 1.5m.
ITV2 reality show The Only Way Is Essex dominated the 10pm hour on the multichannels, grabbing 898k (4.1%) with 142k (1.3%) on +1 and slightly up from the previous episode last Wednesday (February 1).
Elsewhere, 6pm's Got to Dance continued with 822k (3.2%) on Sky1.
The terrestrials saw Call the Midwife heavily beat its competition with a hugely impressive 9.02m (29.6%) from 8pm. Bomber Boys followed on with 4.59m (18.3%).
Dancing on Ice appealed to 7.24m (26.1%) and 216k (0.8%) on timeshift, with 6.19m (24.3%) tuning in for the results show (+1: 218k/1.3%).
Wild at Heart aired in between, taking 6.35m (22.5%) from 8.30pm (+1: 343k/1.4%).
Top Gear had 4.2m (13.8%) from 8pm on BBC Two, while Toughest Place to Be a Fisherman caught 2.33m (8.9%).
Channel 4's The Hotel was watched by 1.09m (3.6%) from 8pm (+1: 285k/1.1%) with World's Scariest Near Misses getting 711k (2.3%) in the same timeslot.
The two channels also aired movies from 9pm - The Time Traveller's Wife on Channel 4 (1.78m/7.7% with 231k/1.5% on +1) beating 300 on Channel 5 (957k/4.3%).
Overall, BBC One secured primetime victory with 23.7% ahead of ITV1's 22.2% (+1: 0.9%). BBC Two took third with 10.1%, beating Channel 4's 5.2% (+1: 0.7%) and Channel 5's 3.5%.
