Betty Driver tribute watched by more than 4.2m on ITV1

ITV1's tribute to late Coronation Street actress Betty Driver was watched by more than 4.2m on Monday night, while Terra Nova continued to perform for Sky1, according to overnight data.

Special documentary The Betty Driver Story was seen by 4.27m (16.8%) on ITV1 from 8pm, and a further 105k (0.4%) on ITV1+1.

Steven Spielberg's blockbuster science fiction series Terra Nova stayed strong on Sky1, entertaining 826k (3.3%) in the 8pm hour.

Back on the terrestrials, Doc Martin appealed to 8.86m (35.2%) on ITV1 in the 9pm hour and 279k (1.6%) on +1, easily outperforming Motorway Cops' 3.38m (13.4%) on BBC One.

Inside Out had 3.6m (15.6%) on BBC One from 7.30pm, and Panorama mustered 3.39m (13.6%) from 8.30pm. A Question of Sport fetched 2.62m (18.3%) from 10.45pm, while ITV1's Exposure was seen by 1.1m (9.1%).

Brave New World with Stephen Hawking debuted with 1.02m (4%) for Channel 4 from 8pm, and Embarrassing Bodies educated 1.68m (6.7%) in the 9pm slot and 351k (2%) on Channel 4+1. Rude Tube amused 1.22m (6.8%) from 10pm and 234k (2.6%) on timeshift.

A History of Ancient Britain enthralled 1.42m (6.3%) on BBC Two in the 7pm hour. University Challenge and Home Cooking Made Easy captivated 2.96m (11.7%) and 1.96m (7.9%) respectively in the 8pm hour. Origin Of Us delighted 1.78m (7.1%) from 9pm and Never Mind The Buzzcocks amused 1.7m (8.4%) from 10pm.

Celebrity Wish List captivated 175k (0.8%) from 7.30pm, and The Gadget Show switched on 819k (3.2%) in the 8pm slot. The new series of The Hotel Inspector booked in 1.34m (5.3%) from 9pm. Big Brother attracted 1.26m (7%) in the 10pm hour, before Big Brother's Bit On The Side entertained 490k (5.5%) from 11pm.

Overall, ITV1 dominated primetime with 28.7% (+1: 0.6%) against BBC One's 18.5%. BBC Two scooped third with 7.6%, followed by Channel 4's 5.1% (+1: 0.9%) and Channel 5's 3.9%.

Elsewhere, Hell's Kitchen USA continued with 443k (1.8%) on ITV2 from 9pm and 120k (0.7%) on +1. Victoria Coren's Only Connect quizzed 758k (3%) on BBC Four from 8.30pm, and new show Up For Hire! employed just 212k (0.8%) on BBC Three from 9pm.
