Richard Madeley has insisted that his wife Judy Finnigan will never appear on television again.
The 53-year-old presenter's long-running double-act with Finnigan, on This Morning and then Richard & Judy, ended last year with poor viewing figures for their chatshow on digital channel Watch.
He told the Sunday Mirror: "The difference between me and Judy is that she has no interest in going back into television. She's done it. Its over. There's nothing that appeals to her about it.
"We had a great working partnership. But we did 21 years of network television together and that's enough."
Madeley continued: "Even if someone offered us big money to do a very attractive programme that appealed to both of us, the answer would be no. Judy's writing a book, she's three chapters into it and it's very good. But she's also putting her feet up and smelling the roses.
"The Richard and Judy Book Club will continue but, in terms of the programmes people have come to expect of us, those days are finished. And to be honest, I'm thoroughly enjoying getting back on the horse alone again."
Thank goodness for that. She should have quit a long time ago after her nervous breakdown. She was totally unsuitable as a presenter anytime after that.
