Horror Channel coming to Freeview Friday, March 13th!

Horror Channel has announced that it is moving across to Freeview.



Viewers previously had to be with Sky, Virgin Media or Freesat to access the channel but will now have the option of Freeview.

The Horror Channel airs a variety of sci-fi, fantasy and horror programming and films, including The Incredible Hulk and Labyrinth.

It is also popular among Doctor Who fans, who are able to catch classic episodes on the channel.

The Horror Channel's move will open it up to 19 million Freeview users, instead of the 3 million to whom it is currently available.

Tanya Gugenheim, chief business development officer at AMC Networks International, said: "The channel already boasts a loyal fanbase, and we're pleased to introduce it to a broader audience through Freeview."

The Horror Channel will appear on Freeview channel 70 from Friday, March 13.

NB: You may have to manually rescan your Freeview receiver if it does not already update the list of channels automatically.

Community Channel is moving to make way for it. It will still be on Channel 63 but broadcast on the frequency currently used by Community Channel HD so some people will have to rescan and others may be unable to receive it at all.

Community Channel HD (Ch.109) will no longer exist.

I'm not a great fan of what passes for "horror" these days - but this channel has some really good stuff on it, especially late at night when there's very little of interest on the other channels.

Community Channel has now moved back to its original slot. You no longer need a Freeview HD box to receive it but may to have to do a rescan before it shows up on Channel 63.

As some people don't seem to have realised yet, Horror Channel has changed frequency on Freeview so a retune is necessary to receive it. It's still on Channel 70 though.
