War and Peace may be proving a bit too difficult for some viewers, as it lost around a million from last week's launch.
Having said that, it still attracted a hefty audience for BBC One with an average overnight figure of 5.33m (22.2%) tuning in at 9pm.
Earlier, Countryfile was the biggest hit on Sunday with 7.40m (34.2%) at 6.30pm, followed by Still Open All Hours with 6.99m (31.0%) at 7.30pm and Antiques Roadshow with 5.47m (22.2%) at 8pm.
On ITV, Beowulf dipped to 2.06m (9.3%) at 7pm (283,000/1.1% on +1), while Endeavour rose to 4.75m (19.4%) at 8pm (446k/2.2%).
Channel 4's Walking the Himalayas fascinated 1.61m (6.5%) at 8pm (289k/1.2%), followed by Deutschland 83 with 820k (3.4%) at 9pm (237k/1.5%).
On Channel 5, Celebrity Big Brother continued with 1.81m (7.5%) at 9pm (283k/1.8%). BBC Two's Dragons' Den attracted 2.56m (10.4%) at 8pm.
E4's odd new timeslot for Marvel's Agents of SHIELD brought in 617k (2.6%) at 9pm (126k/0.8%).
