The Apprentice gains back 500,000 viewers for third firing

The Apprentice climbed back to over 6 million viewers on BBC One last night to witness Lord Alan Sugar's third brutal firing.

The show gained back around 500,000 viewers from last week to an average overnight audience of 6.07m (27.5%) at 9pm. Earlier, DIY SOS also proved popular with 5.71m (27.0%) at 8pm.

On Back to the Future Day, 1.05m (5.2%) people tuned in to watch Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel to 2015 at 6.45pm on ITV2 (369k/1.7% on +1), followed by Keith Lemon's celebration special with 919k (4.5%) at 9pm (254k/2.0%).

BBC Two's Building Cars Live brought in 1.41m (6.7%) at 7.30pm, followed by The Apprentice: You're Fired! with 1.72m (10.1%) at 10pm.

On ITV, All-Star Mr & Mrs entertained 2.65m (12.5%) at 8pm (108k/0.5%), while Land of the Midnight Sun attracted 2.28m (10.3%) at 9pm.

Channel 4's Grand Designs interested 1.74m (7.9%) at 9pm (239k/1.6%). In the same timeslot, Channel 5's Can't Pay? We'll Take It Away was seen by 1.21m (5.5%) (148k/1.0%).

On Sky 1, Arrow continued with 335k (1.6%) at 8pm, followed by You, Me and the Apocalypse with 152k (0.7%). ITVBe's TOWIE was seen by 386k (2.5%) at 10pm.
