Travel Guides begins with 2.7 million viewers on Monday

ITV's new series Travel Guides got off to a strong start, according to overnight data for Monday (August 3).

The first episode of four was seen by 2.66m (14.1%) at 9pm, with a further 107,000 (0.7%) tuning in an hour later on +1. Earlier, Vet School continued with 2.53m (12.6%) at 8pm (101k/0.5% on +1).

BBC One's The Housing Enforcers was the night's most-watched programme outside of the soaps, with 3.35m (18.2%) watching at 7pm. Panorama followed with 1.56m (7.6%) at 8.30pm, while Britain at the Bookies interested 1.86m (9.8%) at 9pm.

On BBC Two, Great British Menu brought in 1.36m (7.1%) at 7.30pm, before University Challenge exercised the minds of 2.71m (13.6%) at 8pm, and Only Connect entertained 2.23m (10.8%) at 8.30pm. Life in Squares continued with 1.06m (5.6%) at 9pm.

Over on Channel 4, Flying to the Ends of the Earth gathered 1.20m (5.9%) at 8pm (132k/0.7%), while 24 Hours in Police Custody intrigued 1.78m (9.4%) at 9pm (232k/1.5%). A Very British Brothel fascinated 1.49m (9.8%) at 10pm (251k/3.0%).

Channel 5's Ben Fogle: Lives in the Wild averaged 1.65m (8.7%) at 9pm (96k/0.6%), and Under the Dome thrilled 543k (3.5%) at 10pm (80k/0.9%).

Meanwhile, the penultimate episode of True Detective was seen by 89k (0.5%) on Sky Atlantic at 9pm.
