Jeremy Clarkson's Top Gear tenure ends with 5.4m viewers

Jeremy Clarkson's final episode of Top Gear topped the primetime ratings on Sunday (June 28), according to overnight data.

The episode brought in 5.36m (23.2%) for BBC Two at 8pm, up slightly on the show's previous outing in March.

The channel's coverage of acts including Lionel Richie at Glastonbury 2015 entertained 1.71m (9.9%) between 6.15pm and 8pm, while Odyssey appealed to 1.77m (8.8%) at 9.15pm.

On BBC One, Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow continued with 5.09m (27.3%) at 7pm and 4.44m (19.6%) at 8pm respectively. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell followed with 1.71m (7.6%) at 9pm.

ITV's Catchphrase entertained 2.16m (11.4%) at 7.15pm (116k/0.5% on +1), before Surprise Surprise warmed the hearts of 2.77m (12.2%) at 8pm (256k/1.1%). The second episode of Sheridan Smith's Black Work dipped to 5.23m (23.1%) at 9pm (315k/1.9%).

Channel 4's Humans dropped to 2.06m (9.1%) for its third episode at 9pm (475k/2.9%), while Amazing Spaces: Shed of the Year interested 1.08m (4.8%) earlier at 8pm (337k/1.5%).

Channel 5's airing of Dirty Dancing proved popular with 1.06m (5.2%) at 7pm (171k/0.8%), while Big Brother continued with 1.09m (4.8%) at 9pm (309k/1.9%).

Meanwhile, Love Island brought in 462k (2.0%) for ITV2 at 9pm.
