Inspector George Gently topped the ratings outside of soaps on Wednesday (May 13), according to overnight figures.
The BBC One drama brought in 5.45m (26.7%) for its 90-minute episode at 8pm, while Peter Kay's Car Share continued strongly with 4.59m (22.5%) at 9.30pm.
On BBC Two, Antiques Road Trip averaged 830k (4.9%) at 7pm, before The Great Chelsea Garden Challenge interested 1.34m (6.7%) at 8pm, and The Great British Garden Watch gathered 1.16m (5.5%) at 9pm. Rory Bremner's Election Report followed with 1.27m (7.5%) at 10pm.
ITV's Give a Pet a Home warmed the hearts of 2.08m (10.4%) at 8pm (166k/0.8% on +1), while Newzoids amused 1.56m (7.3%) at 9pm (151k/0.9%). The Delivery Man was seen by 932k (4.6%) at 9.30pm (87k/0.7%).
The World's Most Expensive Food was devoured by 1.71m (8.6%) on Channel 4 at 8pm (166k/0.8%), while The Island with Bear Grylls thrilled 2.22m (10.6%) at 9pm (284k/1.9%).
Big Brother was Channel 5's highest rated programme of the night with 1.12m (7.1%) for its first highlights show at 10pm (66k/0.8%).
Earlier, Cats Make You Laugh Out Loud entertained 809k (4.1%) at 8pm (126k/0.6%) and Autopsy intrigued 900k (4.3%) at 9pm (75k/0.5%).
Jane the Virgin rose to 199k (1.0%) on E4 at 9pm, while Nashville's season three premiere was watched by 170k (1.1%) at 10pm.
