The BBC One drama's seventh series kicked off with 5.85m (27.9%) at 8pm, while Peter Kay's Car Share followed with 5.68m (27.1%) at 9.30pm.
On BBC Two, Alex Polizzi: Chefs on Trial continued with 1.13m (5.5%) at 8pm, while Nick and Margaret: The Trouble With Our Trains interested 1.02m (4.7%) at 9pm. Inside No. 9 averaged 680k (4.7%) at 10pm.
ITV's Give a Pet a Home fell to 2.33m (11.3%) at 8pm (184k/0.9% on +1), while Newzoids dropped to 1.77m (8.0%) at 9pm (167k/1.0%). The Delivery Man gathered 1.10m (5.2%) at 9.30pm (98k/0.7%).
Channel 4's The Island with Bear Grylls continued with 2.14m (10.0%) at 9pm (289k/1.9%), while First Dates entertained 1.23m (8.2%) at 10pm (206k/2.6%).
Channel 5's The Nightmare Neighbour Next Door shocked 1.15m (5.7%) at 8pm (87k/0.4%), before Autopsy brought in 672k (3.1%) at 9pm (125k/0.8%), and CSI: Miami was seen by 467k (3.0%) at 10pm (44k/0.5%).
Jane the Virgin's second episode brought in 253k (1.2%) on E4 at 9pm, while BBC Three's Reggie Yates' Extreme Russia captivated 347k (2.3%) at 10pm.
