Britain's Got Talent returns with 9.5 million viewers

Britain's Got Talent returned to more than 9.5 million viewers last night (April 11), according to overnight figures.

The ninth series of the ITV reality show averaged 9.58m (43.2%) from 8pm (+1: 551k/2.6%), down from last year's premiere which attracted 10.5m (45%).

Ninja Warrior UK began its run with 3.68m (20.1%), and Play to the Whistle premiered to 2.92m (14%) from 9.20pm.

On BBC One, the latest episode of Atlantis managed 2.57m (12.4%) before The National Lottery: In It to Win It drew 2.58m (11.4%). Casualty treated 4.18m (20.1%) from 9.20pm.

BBC Two's golf coverage of The Masters averaged 1.4m (8%) between 7.30pm and midnight.

On Channel 4, Will Smith movie Independence Day aired to 1.03m (5.1%) from 6.40pm. Afterwards, I Give It a Year starring Rose Byrne and Rafe Spall was watched by 1m (5.5%).

Over on Channel 5, CSI's latest instalment drew 915k (5.5%) from 10.10pm.

The multichannels were topped by ITV2's Britain's Got More Talent, which appealed to 1.45m (7.1%) from 9.20pm.
