Big Brother eviction watched by 1.04 million on Channel 5

The Big Brother eviction was watched by an average of 1.04 million people (4.9%) last night (July 4).

Matthew Davies became the fourth person to leave the house on Friday evening during the live eviction show at 9pm - down slightly on last week's 1.2m. A further 499k (3.2%) watched spin-off show Big Brother's Bit On The Side at 10pm.

World Cup football was the highest rated primetime programme on Friday, with an average audience of 7.48m (37.1%) tuning in to ITV at for Brazil's 2-1 quarter-finals victory over Colombia.

The audience peaked at 9.52m during the last 15 minutes of the game, when Brazilian star forward Neymar suffered a spinal injury which has ruled him out of the rest of the tournament.

A further 5.19m (34.3%) saw Germany beat France 1-0 in the 5pm kick-off on BBC One. Again, audiences peaked at 7.46m in the final 15 minutes of the game.

James Corden Does Deal or No Deal attracted 1.25m (6.4%) to Channel 4 at 8pm, as the actor and comedian walked away with £32,000 for charity.

Jimmy Carr and co's 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown received 1.27m (5.8%) at 9pm, while Friday Night Dinner entertained 656k (3.2%) at 10pm.

BBC One had an audience of 3.6m (18.1%) watching Celebrity MasterChef at 8pm, followed by 2.2m for New Tricks (10%) at 9pm. John Bishop's live tour Rollercoaster had 1.65m (11.6%) laughing at 10.35pm.

BBC Two's highest rated show was Gardener's World, which had an audience of 1.46m (6.7%).

Today at Wimbledon brought in 1.19m (6.1%) for the channel, with highlights of Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer's semi-final victories. The two will play each other in the men's singles final on Sunday (July 7).
