MasterChef top on Wednesday with 4.5 million on BBC One

MasterChef stayed on top of the Wednesday ratings outside of soaps, overnight data reveals.

The BBC One competition dipped by 200,000 from last week's opener to 4.5 million (20.5%) at 8pm.

Later, Monkey Planet intrigued 2.7m (12.5%) at 9pm, while documentary Marine 'A': Criminal or Casualty of War? gathered 1.2m (10.5%) at 10.35pm.

BBC Two's new series Under Offer: Estate Agents on the Job opened to 2.0m (9.1%) at 8pm, followed by Ian Hislop's new series The Olden Days with 1.9m (8.7%) at 9pm. W1A concluded with 1.1m (6.3%) at 10pm.

On ITV, Big Star's Little Star entertained 3.6m (16.3%) at 8pm (163k/0.8% on +1), followed by the latest Law & Order: UK with 3.9m (18.0%) at 9pm (227k/1.5%).

Channel 4's Secret Eaters interested 851k (3.8%) at 8pm (210k/1.0%). Dead Famous DNA fascinated 582k (2.7%) at 9pm (108k/0.7%), followed by The £60,000 Puppy: Cloning Man's Best Friend with 616k (4.0%) at 10pm.

On Channel 5, Raoul Moat: Northumberland Rampage was seen by 732k (3.3%) at 8pm, followed by Britain's Crime Capitals with 826k (3.8%) at 9pm (124k/0.8%) NCIS thrilled 905k (5.6%) at 10pm, followed by the latest Castle with 510k (5.8%) at 11pm.

Sky Sports 1's coverage of Manchester United's defeat to Bayern Munich topped the multichannels with 1.4m (6.9%) at 7pm.
