'Great British Bake Off' final attracts 8.4m on Tuesday

The Great British Bake Off scored big ratings for its grand final on Tuesday, according to overnight data.

BBC Two's fourth series finale attracted an average audience of 8.42 million and an audience share of 32.6% at 8pm. A peak audience of 8.80m tuned in at around 8.30pm.

It is a rise of almost 2 million from last year's final, which attracted an average of 6.54m. The show also scored the biggest ratings of the night overall, beating even Emmerdale and EastEnders.

An earlier episode featuring past Bake Off contestants was seen by 3.31m (15.2%) at 7pm.

Later, The Wrong Mans amused 1.92m (8.2%) at 9pm, followed by The Sarah Millican Television Programme with 1.36m (6.2%) at 9.30pm.

On BBC One, DIY SOS: The Big Build brought in 5.04m (22.2%) at 8pm, while documentary Fox Wars interested 2.25m (17.7%) at 10.35pm.

ITV's coverage of Arsenal's Champions League loss scored an average 4.17m (17.4%) at 7.30pm.

On Channel 4, Double Your House for Half the Money appealed to 710k (2.7%) at 8pm (162k/0.7% on +1). Masters of Sex continued with 695k (3.1%) at 9pm (178k/1.1%).

On Channel 5, the latest CSI: NY thrilled 1.49m (6.6%) at 9pm (162k/1.0%) and 1.39m (8.2%) at 10pm (158k/1.7%).
