'Downton Abbey' leads the Sunday night ratings...

Downton Abbey came out top in the overnight ratings on Sunday (October 6).

The ITV drama's audience fell slightly for its latest episode, airing to 8.82m (36.0%) at 9pm (386k/2.4%).

However, The X Factor dropped over a million viewers from last Sunday to 8.07m (32.8%) at 7.15pm (359,000/1.4% on +1). Earlier on the channel, Surprise, Surprise entertained 3.45m (18.6%) at 6.15pm (146k/0.6%).

Strictly Come Dancing's first results show of the series attracted 8.19 million viewers (33.2%) at 7.15pm on BBC One, which is down by over 2 million from Saturday's live show.

Later, Antiques Roadshow was seen by 5.33m (21.5%) at 8pm, while By Any Means continued with 2.91m (11.8%) at 9pm.

BBC Two's Crane Gang interested 992k (4.0%) at 8pm, while documentary The Ottomans: Europe's Muslim Empire brought in 1.25m (5.1%) at 9pm.

On Channel 4, Man Made Home appealed to 1.22m (4.9%) at 8pm (191k/0.8%). Homeland's third season premiere thrilled 1.84m (7.6%) at 9pm (342k/2.1%).

Channel 5's broadcast of Ashton Kutcher film Killers was seen by 945k (4.6%) at 9pm (126k/1.0%).

On BBC Three, Family Guy topped the multichannels once again with 1.02m (5.1%) at 10pm.

ITV2's The Xtra Factor attracted 501k (2.0%) at 9pm, followed by the return of The Only Way Is Essex with 850k (5.1%) at 10pm (140k/1.6%).
