Doc Martin came out on top in the Monday (September 16) ratings, according to overnight data.
ITV's Martin Clunes drama rose by 10,000 viewers from last week to 7.18 million (31.7%) at 9pm. A further 225k (1.4%) tuned in on +1.
Earlier, Countrywise was seen by 3.23m (14.0%) at 8pm (113k/0.5% on +1).
On BBC One, Motorway Cops attracted 2.68m (11.9%) at 8pm. BBC Two's University Challenge quizzed 2.63m (11.4%) at 8pm.
The Incredible Spice Men cooked up 1.57m (6.7%) at 8.30pm, followed by Robert Peston Goes Shopping with 1.31m (5.8%) at 9pm.
Channel 4's new series Fried Chicken Shop opened with 1.14m (5.0%) at 9pm (223k/1.4%). Richard Ayoade's Gadget Man was seen by 1.02m (4.3%) at 8.30pm (146k/0.6%).
On Channel 5, Celebrity Super Spa entertained 507k (2.2%) at 9pm, while the latest Under the Dome interested 923k (5.7%) at 10pm.
