Ratings: 'We All Pay Your Benefits' interests 4.5 million

Nick Hewer and Margaret Mountford's new BBC One series scored the best ratings outside of soaps on Thursday, according to overnight figures.

We All Pay Your Benefits interested 4.55 million viewers (22.9%) at 9pm. Earlier, Great British Budget Menu cooked up 3.66m (19.6%) at 8pm.

Lord Sugar's The Apprentice: Why I Fired Them special was seen by 1.77m (15.2%) at 10.35pm.

On BBC Two, the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show continued with 1.44m (7.7%) at 8pm, followed by Ewan McGregor documentary Herbrides: Islands on the Edge with 1.56m (7.9%) at 9pm. Mock the Week amused 1.60m (8.9%) at 10pm.

ITV's new documentary series Married to the Job attracted 2.72m (14.5%) at 8.30pm (173,000/0.8% on +1), followed by Brady & Hindley: Possession with 2.33m (11.6%) at 9pm (138k/0.9%).

On Channel 4, Supersize vs Superskinny brought in 573k (3.1%) at 8pm (150k/0.8%). First Dates continued with 562k (2.8%) at 9pm (154k/0.9%), while Eye Spy was seen by 685k (4.2%) at 10pm (171k/1.8%).

Channel 5's Extraordinary People secured 662k (3.5%) at 8pm (97k/0.6%), followed by the latest Big Brother with 1.45m (8.8%) at 10pm (69k/0.8%).

On E4, the season finale of The Big Bang Theory tickled 1.26m (6.7%) at 8pm (400k/2.1%), while the How I Met Your Mother finale was seen by 934k (5.3%) at 8.30pm (210k/1.0%).
