Sunday ratings: 'Top Gear' returns with over 4.7m

Top Gear returned for its 20th series with over 4 million viewers on Sunday (June 30), according to overnight figures.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May's latest run entertained 4.72m (20.3%) at 8pm on BBC Two. However, this is down over a million viewers from the show's most recent episode in early March.

On BBC One, The White Queen dropped 200,000 viewers from last week to 4.25m (18.7%) for its third episode at 9pm.

Earlier, Antiques Roadshow was seen by 4.38m (22.6%) at 7pm, while Countryfile was the most watched show of the night with 5.44m (23.3%) at 8pm.

Match of the Day's coverage of the Confederations Cup final between Brazil and Spain scored 2.37m (26.8%) at 10.30pm.

BBC Two's Rise of the Continents brought in 2.08m (9.2%) at 9pm, while coverage of the final night of Glastonbury 2013 secured 853k (9.3%) at 10pm.

On ITV, Phillip Schofield's The Cube's special featuring Louis Smith and Mark Wright entertained 2.93m (12.6%) at 8pm (199k/0.9% on +1). Tipping Point had earlier quizzed 3.07m (16.0%) at 7pm (169k/0.7%).

Michael Bublé's one-off documentary Day Off interested 2.94m (13.0%) at 9pm (258k/1.5%).

Channel 4's Time Team special was seen by 1.34m (5.8%) at 8pm (423k/1.9%), followed by the latest episode of The Returned with 948k (4.2%) at 9pm (162k/0.9%).

On Channel 5, the latest Once Upon a Time attracted 731k (3.1%) at 8pm. Big Brother continued with 1.24m (5.4%) at 9pm (168k/1.0%).

ITV2's The Only Way Is Essex gathered 892k (5.0%) at 10pm. The highest-rated multichannel broadcast was ITV2's airing of Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith from 5.15pm with 1.35m (8.3%).
