Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Derek Jacobi's new ITV sitcom Vicious performed well on ITV on Monday night, overnight data has revealed.
The premiere episode opened to 5.53 million viewers (23.0%) at 9pm, while a further 344,000 (1.8%) tuned in on +1. These were the highest figures of the night overall outside of soaps.
Russell Tovey and Sarah Hadland's new comedy The Job Lot followed with a decent 4.49m (19.0%) at 9.30pm (248k/1.7 on +1).
Earlier, James Nesbitt's Ireland attracted 2.94m (12.5%) at 8pm.
On BBC One, Bang Goes The Theory was seen by 2.81m (13.6%) at 7.30pm. Panorama brought in 2.17m (9.2%) at 8.30pm, while this month's Crimewatch acquired 3.41m (14.3%) at 9pm.
BBC Two's evening coverage of the World Snooker Championship continued with 1.17m (5.9%) at 7pm.
The University Challenge final quizzed 2.81m (12.1%) at 8pm, followed by Victoria Coren's Only Connect gameshow with 1.90m (8.0%) at 8.30pm. Dave Allen documentary God's Own Comedian was seen by 2.73m (11.%) at 9pm.
Channel 4's Dispatches grabbed 1.31m (5.6%) at 8pm, while Superscrimpers attracted 1.15m (4.9%) at 8.30pm.
The Hoarder Next Door continued with 1.48m (6.2%) at 9pm, with 342k (2.1%) tuning in on +1.
On Channel 5, Nature Shock entertained 614k (2.6%) at 8pm, while Ben Fogle's New Lives in the Wild was seen by 1.08m (4.6%) at 9pm.
E4's Made in Chelsea continued with 508k (3.2%) at 10pm. BBC Four's new series The Flying Archaeologist opened to 630k (2.7%) at 8.30pm.
On Sky1, Arrow's latest episode was seen by 481k (2.0%) at 8pm, while Sky Atlantic's Game of Thrones thrilled 538k (2.3%) at 9pm.
