Oscar Pistorius documentary pulls in over 1 million viewers

BBC Three's quick-turnaround documentary Oscar Pistorius: What Really Happened? pulled in a big overnight audience for the broadcaster last night.

The Rick Edwards-presented doc gripped 1.07 million (4.3%) at 9pm.

On ITV, David Tennant's Broadchurch maintained a healthy audience with 5.78 million (23.2%). An extra 606k (3.7%) watched on +1.

The drama's figures were dented slightly by the second part of BBC One's Shetland, which attracted 5 million (20.1%) at 9pm. Earlier in the evening Panorama had 2.81 million (11%) at 8.30pm, while later Being Eileen had 1.96 million (14.7%) at 10.45pm.

On BBC Two, University Challenge had 3.01 million (12.1%) at 8pm, while Food and Drink had 2.09 million (8.3%) at 8.30pm. This World pulled in 1.41 million (5.7%) at 9pm.

Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies had 1.84 million (7.4%) at 9pm and Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares USA drew 1.05 million (6.5%) at 10pm.

Robson's Extreme Fishing Challenge entertained 860k at 9pm on Channel 5.

Meanwhile, Only Connect remains popular on BBC Four with 913k (3.6%).
