Sunday ratings 'True Love' makes promising start with 3.1m

Improvised drama True Love premiered on BBC One with a decent audience last night (Sunday, June 17), according to overnight data.

Starring David Tennant, the five-part mini-series enthralled 3.11m (18.1%) at 10.25pm, topping the channel's usual average for its late slot.

Despite facing live football on ITV, BBC One held up well with Countryfile (4.95m/25.3%), Antiques Roadshow (5.06m/21.2%) and The Inspector Lynley Mysteries (4.12m/16%).

Euro 2012's clash between Portugal and Holland scored 6.92m (28%) between 7.15pm and 10pm for ITV1. Before that, Emmerdale logged 4.03m (20.3%) in an unusual slot of 6.45pm, adding 236k (1.1%) on +1.

Channel 4's movie My Sister's Keeper entertained 2.38m (10.9%) from 9pm (+1: 337k/2.4%), denting BBC Two's Coast which had 1.9m (7.3%).

Big Brother logged 1.27m (4.9%) for Channel 5 at 9pm (+1: 131k/0.7%), prior to which Once Upon a Time enchanted 1.28m (5%).

Overall, ITV1 won primetime with 23.2% (+1: 0.4%) versus BBC One's 19.7%. Channel 4 earned third place with 7.6% (+1: 0.8%), ahead of BBC Two's 5.7%, and Channel 5's 5.6% (+1: 0.6%).

New Family Guy took 976k (4.6%) for BBC Three at 10pm, but ITV4's live Euro match was the most-watched broadcast of the night with 994k (4%).
