The return of Celebrity Juice amused more than 1.1 million viewers on Thursday evening, while ITV1's 9/11 documentary outperformed the latest episode of Torchwood, the latest audience data has shown.

The sixth series of Keith Lemon's comedy panel show premiered with a solid 1.11m (5.4%) on ITV2 from 10pm, and a healthy 362k (3.3%) on +1.

9/11: The Day That Changed The World, marking the ten-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks in America, averaged 5.09m (23.1%) for ITV1 between 9pm and 10.45pm, with an additional 238k (2.1%) tuning in on +1.

Against such competition, Torchwood: Miracle Day slumped to 3.47m (14.7%) on BBC One in the 9pm slot, meaning series four of the Doctor Who spinoff has lost almost 1.5m viewers since its debut in July. However, the show was still strong enough to beat The Killing USA's rather modest 1m (4.3%) on Channel 4, and 174k (0.9%) on timeshift.

Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother stayed popular, pulling in 2.1m (10.8%) in the 10pm slot, before Celebrity Big Brother's Bit On The Side mustered 574k (5.7%).

Watchdog took 4.21m (18.7%) on BBC One in the 8pm hour. A repeat of Our War grabbed 1.19m (9%) from 10.45pm, while Help! I Caught It Abroad was seen by 955k (12%) on ITV1.

On BBC Two, Coast mustered 1.43m (7.4%) from 7pm and Monty Halls' Great Irish Escape had 1.41m (6.2%) in the 8pm hour. A showing of Jig: The Great Irish Dance-Off fetched 1.96m (8.6%) between 9pm and 10.30pm.

Channel 4's World Athletics coverage continued with 1.23m (6%) from 7.30pm and 128k (0.5%) on +1, before Country House Rescue built 1.42m (6.3%) in the 8pm slot and 347k (1.5%) on +1. Undercover Boss USA fetched 480k (2.5%) from 10pm and 152k (1.5%) on timeshift.

How Do They Do It? quizzed 472k (2.3%) on Channel 5 in the 7pm hour. Croc Man interested 585k (2.6%) from 8pm and Cowboy Builders attracted 1.67m (7.1%) from 9pm.

Overall, ITV1 soared back into the lead in Thursday primetime with 24.8% (+1: 0.7%) against BBC One's 19%. BBC Two came third with 7.4%, ahead of Channel 5's 5.5% and Channel 4's 4.6% (+1: 1%).

Elsewhere, supermarket-set comedy Trollied, starring Jane Horrocks, Mark Addy and Jason Watkins, amused 493k (2.1%) on Sky 1 from 9pm.

Edinburgh Comedy Festival Live 2011 mustered 560k (2.4%) on BBC Three in the 9pm slot, and Lee Nelson's Well Good Show entertained 462k (2.7%) from 10.30pm.

I'm surprised Torchwood only slumped as little as it did. Not because it was a bad episode, but because the two episodes which preceded it antagonised many viewers. And the media should stop describing the series as a "Doctor Who spinoff", it isn't. It's an an adult show aimed entirely at adults and children shouldn't be encouraged to watch it in any way.

Oh, And Sky must have been off their trolley if they thought viewers would flock to see an overlong Tesco commercial dressed-up as a comedy series.
