Television fans in Coventry have spotted some familiar sights in scenes of a much loved BBC police show which returned to screens this week.

Long-running crime drama Silent Witness is currently enjoying its 29th series after opening to instant popularity and acclaim back in the mid 1990s.

This series is set in Birmingham after we learned Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox) and partner Jack Hodgson (David Caves) moved to the city.

Most of the filming takes place that side of the A45, but Tile Hill has also been used - these scenes are available to watch in the episodes The Enemy Within, on the BBC iPlayer now.

The scenes take place around Ferrers Close flats, Faseman Avenue and Jardine Crescent.

The area's shops and buildings would no doubt have seen Tile Hill residents pointing at their screens in surprised recognition.

Filming is understood to have taken place around a year ago. At the time locals were warned about the show, and told to expect film crews across several days.

Residents were told not to be alarmed if they spotted actors dressed as police officers wielding stage firearms.

Regarding this series, leading lady Fox said: "The theme of this series, across the stories, is trust and what we can believe in and what's real. That crosses from stories about AI, to trust in relationships and Jack has some big storylines in this series.”

She added that Birmingham is a ‘really beautiful city’ but didn't mention what her thoughts were on Tile Hill.
