The Doctor is embarking on a new adventure
David Tenant has confirmed his next TV role. The Doctor Who star will front new ITV game show Genius Game, which will see "the country's most brilliant minds" take part in challenges in order to win a cash prize.
Contestants, chosen due to their "high intellectual prowess" and "social IQ" will take part in unique, never-before-seen games to test these skills head-to-head in the show which originated in Korea.
BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning actor Tenant will take on the role of The Creator in the eight-part series, guiding players through each challenge.
Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment at ITV, said the show will be nerve-racking not just for the players, but also those watching at home.
"This exciting reality format is designed to keep not just the players but the audience on the edge of their seats with each episode containing compelling gameplay and thrilling twists," she said.
Rawcliffe went on to praise Tenant's casting on the show, adding: "David Tennant is the perfect ringmaster to preside over this battle of brainpower, teamwork and deception. We're delighted to be bringing Genius Game to the ITV audience."
Tamara Gilder, joint MD of Remarkable added: "We are so thrilled that David will be guiding the players through the twists and turns of the show. There's nothing quite like Genius Game, it's smart and funny – just like he is – he's the perfect frontman."
A release date for the show has not yet been announced.
