And Then There Were None tops ratings with 6m on Boxing Day

And Then There Were None led the primetime ratings on Boxing Day, according to overnight data.

The three-part Agatha Christie adaptation - starring the likes of Aidan Turner, Douglas Booth and Charles Dance​ - launched with a promising audience of 6.01m (27.5%) from 9pm on BBC One.

Earlier in the evening, EastEnders picked up 5.68m (26.6%) from 7.30pm as fun-loving Fatboy was killed off in a grisly case of mistaken identity, with a further 520k (2.6%) tuning in on BBC Three at 10pm.

Series two of Still Open All Hours drew 5.15m (24.9%) for BBC One from 8pm.

The launch of big-budget Victorian drama Dickensian opened the night for BBC One with 4.99m (24.9%) from 7pm, while 4.34m (20.9%) tuned in for the second episode from 8.30pm.

Surprise Surprise, featuring One Direction and gold medal-winning rower James Cracknell, drew the biggest audience on the night for ITV with 2.46m (12%) from 7pm (236k/1.1% on +1).

Original drama Peter & Wendy - starring Stanley Tucci, Laura Fraser and Paloma Faith as Tinkerbell - was seen by 1.44m (6.8%) at 8pm, while the Boxing Day special of The Jonathan Ross Show drew in 1.13m (6.2%) at 10.05pm.

Channel 4's annual Big Fat Quiz of the Year, which included the unmissable sight of Jon Snow doing Drake's 'Hotline Bling' dance, was a big hit as it entertained 2.14m (10.6%) from 9pm (358k/2.3% on +1).

This year's quiz featured teams consisting of Rob Brydon, Richard Ayoade, David Mitchell, Claudia Winkleman, Greg Davies and Jo Brand.

Inside Lego at Christmas built up an audience of 1.77m (8.5%) at 8pm (278k/1.3% on +1).

Earlier in the night, Britain's Favourite Children's Books with David Walliams drew 680k (3.4%) from 6.30pm (123k/0.6% on +1). The repeat of The Secret Life of Children at Christmas attracted 496k (2.7%) at 5.35pm (134k/0.7% on +1).

The first part of Top Gear: From A to Z revved into life with an audience of 1.36m (6.6%) over on BBC Two at 8pm, while Channel 5's top-rated primetime programme was Christmas Makes You Laugh Out Loud with 622k (3%) from 7pm (102k/0.5% on +1).

Later in the night on BBC Two, A Gert Lush Christmas entertained 830k (3.8%) at 9pm, Country Strife: Abz on the Farm Christmas Special dug up 539k (2.7%) from 10pm and Backchat End of Year Show ended the night with 477k (2.9%) at 10.30pm.

Well, having been forced to watch some TV over the Christmas period, I can only say what rubbish I thought it was. I rarely watch TV, now I remember why. :stir:

Be grateful you don't live in the USA Rebbonk, they had nothing but very ordinary repeats to watch. The nearest thing to a Xmas Special on network TV was a colorized version of the chocolate factory episode of I Love Lucy from 1952.
