'Rookies' keeps 3.2m ITV viewers interested on Monday night

ITV's Rookies kept hold of the vast majority of its viewers for its second episode on Monday (July 20), according to overnight figures.

The police documentary brought in 3.17m (15.8%) to top the ratings outside of the soaps at 9pm, with a further 136k (0.9%) tuning in an hour later on +1.

Earlier, Vet School gathered 2.39m (11.0%) at 8pm (204k/1.0% on +1).

On BBC One, The Train That Divides Jerusalem fascinated 1.58m (7.3%) at 8.30pm, while Britain at the Bookies interested 2.21m (11.0%) at 9pm.

On BBC Two, live coverage from The Open appealed to 3.01m (14.5%) at 7pm, before University Challenge tested the minds of 2.49m (11.5%) at 8.30pm, and Only Connect averaged 2.24m (11.0%) at 9pm. Cake Bakers and Trouble Makers followed with 1.36m (7.2%) at 9.30pm.

Channel 4's Supershoppers brought in 1.51m (7.0%) at 8pm (152k/0.8%), while The Real Story continued with 1.60m (7.4%) at 8.30pm (204k/1.0%).

Later, How to Get a Council House intrigued 1.57m (7.8%) at 9pm (289k/1.9%), and Lookalikes amused 1.04m (5.9%) at 10pm (171k/1.8%).

Over on Channel 5, Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild was watched by 1.26m (6.3%) at 9pm (128k/0.8%), while Under the Dome entertained 469k (2.9%) at 10pm (59k/0.7%).

Meanwhile, the new season of True Detective continued on Sky Atlantic with 154k (0.8%) at 9pm.
