Big Brother reaches its climax with 1.2m on Thursday night

Big Brother rose marginally for its live final on Thursday (July 16), according to overnight data.

Chloe Wilburn's triumph was watched by 1.22m (6.7%) on Channel 5 at 9pm, with a further 61,000 viewers (0.5%) tuning in on +1. Big Brother's Bit on the Side followed with 500k (5.6%) at 10.45pm (78k/1.8%).

The figure for the live final is down almost half a million viewers from the 1.70m who tuned in to May's live launch show, according to early figures.

Meanwhile, Celebrity MasterChef continued to dominate with 4.05m (20.6%) for its latest episode on BBC One at 9pm, after DIY SOS: The Big Build averaged 3.68m (19.1%) at 8pm. Later, Motorway Cops thrilled 2.17m (20.0%) at 10.45pm.

On BBC Two, Ireland's Wild River: The Mighty Shannon interested 1.21m (6.3%) at 8pm, before Coast gathered 1.61m (8.2%) at 9pm, and Mock the Week entertained 1.48m (8.7%).

ITV's Tonight was watched by 2.36m (12.9%) at 7.30pm (86k/0.4%), while Superhospital continued with 2.25m (11.4%) at 9pm (156k/1.0%).

Grand Designs appealed to 920k (4.8%) on Channel 4 at 8pm, while Married at First Sight fascinated 1.76m (8.9%) at 9pm (349k/2.2%).

Over on Sky Living, the latest cycle of America's Next Top Model pressed on with 137k (0.7%) at 8pm, before Madam Secretary was seen by 171k (0.9%) at 9pm.
