Arthur & George loses viewers to Match of the Day

Arthur & George shed almost half of its viewers for its second episode, according to overnight figures for Monday (March 9).

The Martin Clunes project brought in 3.15m (13.4%) for ITV at 9pm, with a further 244k (1.7%) tuning in on +1. Earlier, Robson Green's More Tales from Northumberland interested 3.63m (15.7%) at 8pm (105k/0.4% on +1).

However, it was BBC One's Match of the Day Live that topped Monday night's ratings, with 7.27m (31.2%) tuning in to see Arsenal beat Manchester United at Old Trafford.

On BBC Two, University Challenge was watched by 2.29m (10.0%) at 8pm, while Only Connect continued with 2.11m (8.6%) at 8.30pm, and A Cook Abroad brought in 1.07m (4.6%) at 9pm.

Over on Channel 4, Dispatches averaged 1.23m (5.4%) at 8pm (104k/0.4%), while Food Unwrapped intrigued 1.30m (5.3%) at 8.30pm (134k/0.6%). The Billion Pound Hotel gathered 2.09m (8.9%) at 9pm (369k/2.5%).

Channel 5's Cats Make You Laugh Out Loud brought in 1.06m (4.5%) at 8pm (121k/0.5%), followed by Benefits: Life on the Dole with 1.41m (6.0%) at 9pm (116k/0.8%) and 10,000 BC with 588k (3.9%) at 10pm (45k/0.6%).

On Fox, The Walking Dead thrilled 473k (2.0%) at 9pm, while ITVBe's Real Housewives of Cheshire was seen by 265k (1.8%) at 10pm.
