The Top Gear Patagonia Special was seen by an average audience of 4.7 million (20.7%) on Saturday night (December 27).
Airing at 8.30pm on BBC Two, the first of a two-part special saw Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May drive three classic V8-engined sports cars throughout Argentina and Chile.
The show peaked with 5.11 million (22.3%) at 9.15pm. The second part airs tonight (December 28) at 8pm on BBC Two.
It was sandwiched between Operation Grand Canyon with Dan Snow and James May's Toy Stories, which were seen by 1.57 million (7.5%) and 1.69 million (8.3%), respectively.
BBC Two's evening ended with 1.25 million (8.1%) for QI Christmas XL and 590k (6.1%) for Harry & Paul's Story of the 2s.
Over on BBC One, Pointless Celebrities topped the evening's ratings with average viewing figures of 5.04 million (24.1%) from 6.45pm. It peaked with 5.4 million (25.5%) at 7.15pm.
The evening continued with 4 million (19.2%) for The National Lottery: Win Your Wish List at 7.40pm, followed by 3.85 million (17%) for Bruce's Hall of Fame at 8.30pm.
A repeat of Mrs Brown's Boys was seen by 4.45 million (21.5%) at 9.40pm, while Live at the Apollo rounded things off with 2.48 million (15.1%) at 10.35pm.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 dominated ITV's schedule, reeling in an average audience of 3.1 million (14.3%) from 7pm.
ITV's evening ended with 1.74 million (9%) Darcy Oake: Edge of Reality at 9.50pm.
Mission: Impossible 2 was seen by 980k (4.5%) on Channel 4 from 7.10pm, while the 50 Funniest Moments 2014 picked up 1.05 million (5.9%) at 9.30pm.
Channel 5 attracted viewing figures of 1.21 million (6.8%) for The Haunting of Radcliffe House at 9.35pm. It was preceded by Chas & Dave's Xmas Knees Up! with 610k (2.9%) and The Dog Rescuers with Alan Davies: Christmas Special with 633k (2.8%).
Finally, BBC Three's showing of Shrek was seen by 826k (4%) at 7pm, followed by 677k (3.2%) for Donkey's Carolling Christmas-tacular at 8.25pm.
