Inspector George Gently remained on top of the ratings on Thursday outside of soaps, according to overnight data.
The BBC One series rose by nearly 200,000 viewers to 5.60 million (24.6%) at 8.30pm. Earlier, Pound Shop Wars brought in 4.99m (23.7%) at 8pm, while Question Time was seen by 2.56m (23.2%) at 10.35pm.
BBC Two's Permission Impossible gathered 1.34m (6.3%) at 7pm, followed by the Hairy Bikers' Asian Adventure with 2.05m (9.3%) at 8pm. Documentary Jumbo: The Plane that Changed the World interested 1.34m (5.9%) at 9pm. A Mock the Week repeat amused 1.10m (6.3%) at 10pm.
On ITV, the Europa League match featuring Tottenham Hotspur scored 3.20m (14.5%) at 7.45pm (106k/0.6% on +1).
Channel 4's Supersize vs Superskinny appealed to 1.38m (6.3%) at 8pm (221k/1.0%). The Storms that Stole Christmas attracted 1.90m (8.4%) at 9pm (378k/2.4%).
On Channel 5, Henry & Anne: The Lovers Who Changed History intrigued 914k (4.2%) at 8pm. The Hotel Inspector continued with 1.14m (5.0%) at 9pm (126k/0.8%).
