National Television Awards 2014 scores 5.9m viewers

The 2014 National Television Awards topped the Wednesday ratings outside of soaps, overnight data reveals.

The annual ceremony hosted by Dermot O'Leary attracted 5.90m (26.0%) on average from 7.30pm (295,000/1.4% on +1). This is up just over 300k from last year's broadcast, but still down on 2012's event.

On BBC One, Crimewatch was seen by 2.85m (11.9%) at 9pm.

BBC Two's Winterwatch appealed to 2.27m (10.0%) at 8pm, followed by its Unsprung special with 1.29m (5.4%) at 9pm. Russia on Four Wheels continued with 1.13m (5.2%) at 9.30pm.

Channel 4's Restoration Man gathered 1.50m (6.6%) at 8pm (224k/0.9%), while 24 Hours in A&E fascinated 1.60m (6.7%) at 9pm (300k/1.7%).

On Channel 5, the latest Celebrity Big Brother live eviction dipped to 1.90m (8.5%) at 9pm (386k/2.6%).

E4's latest episode of The Tomorrow People dropped to 664k (2.8%) at 9pm (155k/0.9%), while Sky1's The Kumars also fell to 212k (0.9%) at 9pm.
