Celebrity MasterChef drops a million viewers on Thursday

Celebrity MasterChef topped a quiet evening outside of soaps on Thursday (August 1), overnight data reveals.

However, the cooking competition dropped a million viewers from its premiere the previous evening to 3.77m (20.0%) at 8pm on BBC One.

Earlier, documentary Urban Jungle was seen by 3.03m (18.5%) at 7pm, while DIY SOS interested 2.91m (14.8%) at 9pm.

On BBC Two, Dara O Briain's Science Club appealed to 1.06m (5.6%) at 8pm, while Hebrides: Islands on the Edge brought in 1.75m (8.9%) at 9pm.

ITV's Married to the Job attracted 2.5m (13.3%) at 8.30pm, while a Tonight special also gathered 2.5m (12.2%) at 7.30pm (130k/0.7% on +1).

Channel 4's new documentary series The Dealership opened with 901k (4.8%) at 8pm (190k/1.0%). How to Get a Council House was seen by 1.74m (8.9%) at 9pm (345k/2.0%).

On Channel 5, The Hotel Inspector Returns attracted 1.04m (5.3%) at 9pm, followed by the latest Big Brother with 1.43m (8.4%) at 10pm. Big Brother's Bit on the Side entertained 644k (6.7%) at 11pm.

The most-watched broadcast on the multichannels was Film4's airing of Bruce Willis movie RED at 9pm with 1.58m (8.8%).
