'The Syndicate' tops Tuesday ratings for BBC One

The Syndicate helped win the Tuesday ratings battle for BBC One, overnight data has revealed.

The penultimate episode of the drama climbed slightly from last week to 5.23 million viewers (22.5%) at 9pm.

Earlier, The One Show brought in 4.12m (21.6%) at 7pm, while The Matt Lucas Awards amused 1.62m (12.2%) at 10.45pm

On BBC Two, Hairy Bikers' Best of British attracted 1.61m (8.1%) at 7pm. The Great British Sewing Bee held steady with 2.52m (11.4%) at 8pm, while Keeping Britain Alive: NHS in a Day achieved 1.74m (7.5%) at 9pm.

ITV's Tonight special was seen by 1.51m (7.5%) at 7.30pm, followed by a repeat of Midsomer Murders with 2.51m (11.1%) at 8pm. Prince Charles's Royal Paintbox attracted 1.14m (10.0%) at 10.45pm.

On Channel 4, Bedtime Live was viewed by 500,000 (2.3%) at 8pm. Secrets of the Shoplifters opened to a decent 1.93m (8.3%) at 9pm, with a further 451k (2.7%) on Channel 4+1. Shameless grabbed 987k (5.8%) at 10pm.

Channel 5's Big Body Squad dipped slightly to 1.10m (5.0%) at 8pm. The latest CSI thrilled 1.52m (6.5%) at 9.15pm.

On BBC Three, Barely Legal Drivers took in 567k (2.4%) at 9pm, followed by Bluestone 42 with 528k (2.8%) at 10pm. Family Guy peaked with 563k (5.5%) at 11pm.

BBC Four's Ocean Giants documentary scored 726k (3.3%) at 8pm, while The Secret Life of Rockpools attracted 605k (2.6%) at 9pm.

On E4, the latest episode of New Girl tickled 517k (2.2%) at 9pm, with 140k (0.7%) on +1. ITV2's The Vampire Diaries brought in 309k (1.3%) at 9pm.
